A stitch in time for Glossop embroiderers
The Glossop & District Embroiderers’ Guild is having a display of bonnets made by members over the next two or three months for a project called Roses from the Heart. The project was started in Australia in memory of over 26,000 women ‘convicts’ who were shipped there in the 1800s, some for offences as minor as stealing a loaf of bread to feed their families.
The Glossop & District Embroiderers’ Guild was formed in 2004 and now has around 50 members but they are always looking for new members and embroidery enthusiasts, so welcome anyone to come along to their meetings held on the first Wednesday of each month at Glossop Cricket Club, North Road, Glossop at 2pm.
